Where do I start?
In December 2016 I decided I wanted to learn to sew my own clothes. I officially took the bull by the horns in January 2017.
Side bar: This wasn’t the first time I called myself learning how to sew. I tried it about 10 years earlier and it was a colossal fail. *I wish I still had some of those hideous items. Lol!
Back to the story. I was tired of spending a fortune on clothing that still needed to be altered or wasn’t quite the fabric and color I wanted. Enough was enough, so I pulled out my sewing machine and decided to give sewing another shot. This time around, I hit the ground running. I made a tote bag, a few pillow cases, throw pillows and several garments that were epic fails. Fails? They didn’t fit. *Nah, we don’t see the irony in that*.
The first tote bag I attempted.
First pillowcases. I was trying to grasp a straight stitch and maintain the given seam allowance.
These weren’t too bad. Even tried an invisible stitch.
This dress turned out nice, but it doesn’t fit. I now understand the importance of body measurements, reading and comprehending what’s on the back of a pattern envelope.
Despite many hiccups and miscalculations, the journey continues and I’m here to share that journey Happy Sewing!
